Hunter's Grants - Making Dreams A Reality

Making Dreams a reality

“With Hunter's Grants, we are nurturing creativity in other young people, just like we were able to do for Hunter.”

— Hunter Watson’s Mom, Judy

To believe in a dream is to believe in the potential of ones spirit. Every young person deserves to grow up knowing that their dreams are possible. However, not all parents have the resources to support every dream — hire music coaches, pay for video productions or help finance a start-up to manifest a vision that can change our lives for the better. Hunter’s Grants supports youth to do just this— uplift students to participate creatively in their passions.

Through the support of generous donors, Hunter's Grants provides financial support for young innovators. Young people between the ages of 16 and 25 can apply for grants of up to $5,000 to help begin or continue innovative projects. Covering a wide range of interests and passions, Hunter's Grants have helped more than 30 promising young people explore dreams that might help make the world better for all of us.

Hunter's Pledge - Working To End Distracted Driving

Hunter's Pledge Campaign to save lives

“Parents not only appreciated the powerful social change created on their child’s future campus, but they loved that this was an event that impacted everyone.”

— Josh Levine, Cornell University

RAISING AWARENESS, CHANGING BEHAVIOR
Distracted driving is a growing problem among youth. Data shows an increase of drivers striking students exiting school buses, pedestrians in crosswalks, cyclists sharing the road, and police officers at road stops. In fact, the risk of a fatal crash increases 66% when holding a cell phone and 70% when using social media while driving.

The moment that Hunter Watson of Syracuse University died tragically as a passenger of a distracted driver, a grassroots student-led movement arose to encourage youth to pledge not to drive distracted. Fueled by Hunter's family and friends, Hunter’s Fund is committed to ensure that all youth have the opportunity to live out their dreams.

We are proud to join sister organizations that also recognize this problem and are organizing education campaigns to reduce distracted driving - AAA, car companies and cell phone makers. Hunter’s Fund believes in the power of community to create change. Signing a pledge among peers has been shown to increases the chance of changing behavior 47% more than any other incentive. Join us in raising awareness and ending distracted driving!
