Cassity Leachman builds a fair and transparent music label

Syracuse University graduate Cassity Leachman is bringing a refreshing sense of integrity to the music industry through her company, Capricious Productions. Based in Wrentham, Massachusetts, Cassity’s independent music production company and record label provide young artists with personalized mixing, mastering, branding, and management—while ensuring they maintain control of their own creative paths.

“Our policy of crafting custom contracts for each individual artist based on their needs is not commonly found among larger independent labels, and especially not among corporate ones,” Cassity explains. “We believe that this sets us apart and is our way of pushing the music industry in a more just direction.”

Through Capricious Productions, Cassity is committed to helping artists thrive without compromising their authenticity. With support from her Hunter’s Fund grant, she will expand her recording capabilities and purchase new production equipment, allowing her to continue mentoring emerging musicians and fostering a fairer, more inclusive music community.
