Chris Baker supports young filmmakers through professional sound recording

Chris Baker, a musician and recent graduate of Falmouth University in Cornwall, England, is turning his love of music and sound into a way to support other artists. With a degree in music, Chris is not only a performer and songwriter but also the lead singer of his folk band, Lunacci + The Lunatics. Beyond performing, he has developed a strong passion for sound design and composition for film.

Working closely with young filmmakers in his community, Chris has provided location sound for a range of projects—often without compensation, as many of the filmmakers have little or no budget. Limited access to professional-quality equipment, however, has forced him to decline opportunities or travel long distances to borrow gear.

With help from his Hunter Watson Memorial Fund grant, Chris will purchase professional sound recording equipment. The upgrade will allow him to continue assisting emerging filmmakers, expand creative collaboration across Cornwall, and pursue larger-scale film and music projects with professional capabilities.
