Ethan Warden expands brass performance through audio innovation

Ethan Warden, a graduate student at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, is bringing together his background as a skilled trombone player with cutting-edge audio technology to redefine what brass instruments can do. Originally from Owensville, Missouri, Ethan has developed a strong interest in exploring new ways to create unique sounds that expand the possibilities of traditional performance.

His vision extends beyond his own artistry. Ethan is committed to educating young brass musicians about the power of advanced audio tools, helping them discover how technology can transform and elevate their playing. By blending classical technique with modern innovation, he hopes to inspire the next generation of performers to experiment, explore, and push the boundaries of their instruments.

With support from his Hunter’s Fund grant, Ethan will establish an advanced audio studio equipped to both enhance his personal work and serve as a teaching space. There, students will gain hands-on experience with technology that opens exciting new directions for brass performance.
