Building a Reading Companion Children Can Trust
BearBot
A child who struggles with reading may practice more willingly when the experience feels safe and welcoming.
Marangelis Uben helped create BearBot with Ashley Romero, Bintou Manneh, and Maram Ahmed. The team designed the idea as a stuffed reading companion that brings technology into an object children already understand: a toy they can hold. A built-in scanner and personalized features are intended to help young readers practice skills in a more engaging way.
BearBot grew from the team's interest in education, technology, and child development. Their idea asks a simple question: can a learning tool help children strengthen reading skills without making practice feel intimidating?
What your support made possible:
Spirit of Entrepreneurship Award support and recognition to help the BearBot team continue refining and developing its reading companion.
Because of you... Marangelis can keep testing how a familiar, comforting object might also help a child become a more confident reader.
