Jackson Hirsh was sitting in his college dorm room dreaming of a life in music when he applied for a Hunter’s Grant.

He needed help to record a demo of his music to use for getting invites to play at local music venues and promote his music.

Hunter’s Fund grants Committee read his application and listened to his music and decided this was the type of young man they wanted to help.

Two years later, Jackson was signed as a recording artist by Epic Records, the label of those who would become famous as Mariah Carey. Michael Jackson and ABBA.

His parents had supported his love of music since the age of three as he learned to play the violin. Since then, music has been an important part of Jackson’s life. This Seattle, Washington native had been involved in writing, recording, and producing music for many years.

On the day Jackson signed his contract with Epic Records, he also received a signing bonus, common in the music industry. Jackson called Hunter’s Fund and told them he was sending back the $5,000 grant he had received to be used to support another promising artist.
