Bringing the Experience to College Students

WAYV

Julia Haber noticed something about marketing while working with major companies: young people did not necessarily want brands simply advertised to them. They wanted experiences they could step into.

While studying advertising and new business at Syracuse University, Julia began experimenting.

She transformed unused campus space into a pop-up shop featuring products from student entrepreneurs. Networking and pitching helped bring larger companies into the idea, and AT&T helped fund an early pop-up.

That experience became WAYV, Julia's experiential marketing venture. Instead of waiting for students to seek out a brand, WAYV brought brands directly to students through memorable events.

One pop-up attracted 760 students in five hours. Another partnership with Rent the Runway combined fashion, food, photo booths, and hands-on experiences.

Julia was recognized in the Product category of Hunter's Fund's inaugural Spirit of Entrepreneurship Awards.
