Putting Diabetes Tools on the Wrist

SugEx

Diabetes management asks people to carry tools, remember readings, and make repeated decisions throughout the day.

Russell Fearon and Ricardo Sanchez created SugEx to explore whether some of that work could fit into a wearable device. Their concept centered on an affordable smartwatch paired with a phone app to help display and track blood-sugar information and remind users about testing.

They wanted the device to feel like something a person could wear comfortably and confidently, rather than another piece of medical equipment that constantly called attention to a condition.

What your support made possible:

A Spirit of Entrepreneurship Award providing early funding and recognition to help Russell continue developing SugEx.

Because of you... Russell received an early vote of confidence and resources to keep testing what SugEx might become.
