Lilia Devany Serio develops app to curb distracted driving

Lilia Devany Serio, a participant in the One Stone program in Boise, Idaho, is helping lead an innovative approach to tackling distracted driving. Alongside her team, she co-developed Clutch, a mobile app that rewards users for not texting while behind the wheel. By earning points for safe driving, users can unlock discounts at local restaurants and stores, turning road safety into both a habit and a benefit.

The vision behind Clutch is to make it accessible to everyone, with plans for both iOS and Android platforms. To support its growth, the team is also filing patents for unique coding features, building a beta version of the app, and creating a website and social media campaign to expand outreach.

With the support of her Hunter’s Fund grant, Lilia and her teammates will be able to move closer to launching Clutch commercially. Their ultimate goal is to use technology not only to reward good choices, but also to save lives by reducing texting and driving.
