Your Car’s Screen Can Distract You Too
At Hunter’s Fund, we often ask young drivers to think twice before picking up a phone. But today, distraction does not only come from the device in your hand. It can also come from the screen built right into the car.
Navigation, music, calls, and messages now live on the dashboard, which can make them feel more acceptable to use while driving. Still, a quick glance to change a song, fix a route, or adjust a setting can pull your attention away at the wrong moment. Driving asks for constant awareness, and even small interruptions can matter.
That is why the safest drive often begins before the car ever moves. Set the route before leaving. Pick the playlist ahead of time. Adjust the volume, air, and other settings while parked. If something needs to change later, it is worth waiting until you can pull over or letting a passenger handle it.
At its core, this is what Hunter’s Fund is always trying to do: help young people build safer habits before a risky moment begins. Your support helps keep these simple reminders in front of students, families, and campus communities who need them.
